This annual event held throughout the month of September is a chance for everyone to get acquainted with the myriad maritime pleasures our coastal region has to offer.
The festival attracts hundreds of visitors looking to draw out the holiday season and make the most of the Indian summer.
The festival is a great way to promote, protect and preserve our maritime heritage and support its many stakeholders while sharing important messages with the public both young and old. During the month of September, the public flock to this popular annual event and prolong their holidays.
Carry-le-Rouet is, after Marseille, the town which holds the greatest number of sea-related events in its calendar (about 100). Cultural, culinary or sporting, the biggest ones are:
La Traversée: This swimming race which started in 2015 was so popular that the number of entrants (300 swimmers) was increased this year. The 3-km race held in the cove at Le Rouet beach is open to monofin, bifin and finless swimmers. Sponsored by a well-known champion, Frédérick Bousquet, this event organised by a group of passionate swimmers, members of the Côte Bleue Passion association, all takes place in a spirit of friendly competition!
Carro-Carry: this seaside running race is held the last weekend of September and passes through Carro, La Couronne, Sausset-les-Pins and Carry-le-Rouet. Over 2,000 athletes take part in this regional event. The race, the second-biggest in terms of participants, had become a major sporting celebration organised by the Carry 5 Association.
The European Heritage Days are organised each year by the Tourist Information Office. Guided tours are a great way to explore the natural heritage of Carry-le-Rouet.
