The Parc Marin has participated in the 'Ecogestes Méditerranée' operation, a PACA-wide initiative to educate users of the sea, since 2004.
The aim of the campaign is to promote practical environmental actions to users of the sea to help protect the Mediterranean.
Speaking directly with sailors, agents from the Parc Marin talk about the rich biodiversity of the sea bed and different eco actions to carry out to minimise human impact on the marine environment. These meet-ups are designed to encourage users to adopt environmentally-friendly actions to preserve the marine environment.
Example of eco actions (see the 'Ecogestes' practical guide)
Drop anchor where the sea bed is sandy
Raise your anchor directly up from the boat
Use plant-based or eco-certified cleaning products
Use plant-based or eco-certified soaps
Recycle on-board waste
Choose products without heavy packaging
Use marine toilets far away from swimming areas only
Observe wildlife without touching or disturbing animals
Limit your water consumption when rinsing the boat
