"Parc Marin de la Côte Bleue" is a joint association founded on 10 July 2000 to continue and give new impetus to the action carried out since 1983 by the "Parc Régional Marin de la Côte Bleue" association.
The joint association encompasses:
• the towns along the Côte Bleue: Carry-le-Rouet, Ensuès-la-Redonne, Martigues, Le Rove and Sausset-les-Pins,
• the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region,
• the Bouches-du-Rhône Department,
• the regional maritime fishing committee and the 'Prud’homies' (fishing corporations) of Marseille and Martigues.
Parc Marin de la Côte Bleue was created to protect the coastal aquatic wildlife and promote the development of this environment to support economic activities which depend on the sea. It also has an educational mission to inform the general public on the marine environment and contribute to innovative experiments and research programmes.
