Since January 2019, the town of Carry-le-Rouet has been classified as a tourist resort.
Classification as a "classified resort" is assigned by prefectural decree valid for 12 years to "tourist municipalities" having structured a qualified offer to make it a destination of excellence.
To obtain this status, the municipality must meet 45 criteria, including at least 70% of units classified in all categories and a tourist office classified in category I.
The classification as a "tourist resort" offers the following advantages:
- the increase in the allowance of mayors and deputies,
- demographic upgrading making it possible to recruit officers of a higher grade, or to create more functional jobs than the demographic threshold identified in the community allows,
- the proceeds of the additional tax to the registration fees or to the land registration tax,
- a rate reduced to 0% of transfer taxes for municipalities with a population of less than 5,000 inhabitants located in rural revitalization zones.
